A Piece of the Past Still Present Today

A Brief History of Our Bed and Breakfast

The Pembrooke Inn is a lovely, 3 story Victorian mansion originally built in 1886 by Mr. Joseph Wolter.  Joseph was the founder of the main shipyard of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.  He remained the president of the then Sturgeon Bay Shipbuilding until his death in 1929.  The inn was built as a luxurious family home with large elegant rooms and a fully oak-paneled reception area. The building has undergone a number of restorations over the years to revive The Pembrooke Inn to its original majesty.

After being closed as a bed and breakfast for several years, the new owners re-opened this historic inn on October 1st, 2020. Under their leadership, we have combined the mansion’s old-world charm with modern amenities to make our visitors more comfortable and memorable.
